Your Canine's Sense of Smell
A much larger part of a dog’s brain is devoted to processing smells than yours. Some search dogs locate people buried under the snow of avalanches, search for evidence in crime, and find people in the water. Cloudy days, mornings, and evenings are the best times for dogs to search. And depending on the conditions, dogs can pick up a scent up to a half a mile away!

Understanding Alpha Dog Behavior
Understanding pack behavior gives you an idea of the way
your dog will understand your behavior in relation to all
things dog-related. Because pack society is based on the
idea that, out of two creatures, one will dominate, the
first thing your dog wants to know is who’s in charge. This
is where many perfectly nice people end up with perfectly
dreadful dogs, because they (the people) believe that by not
“dominating” (teaching, rewarding and disciplining) the dog,
